Musician Bio’s

Vyacheslav Dobrushkin native of Ukraine, has performed in distinguished concert halls throughout North America including Carnegie Hall, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Meyerson Symphony Center, Teatro Hidalgo, Zilkha Hall, Blas Galindo Hall among others. 

         Mr. Dobrushkin began his musical journey at an early age, winning several competitions and awards allowing him the opportunity to perform as a soloist with various orchestras and tour throughout Mexico. In 1999, he and his family moved to Colima, Mexico where he furthered his studies at the University Institute of Fine Arts (UIFA) at Colima University. Mr. Dobrushkin took part in the International Music Academy "Winter 2006”, obtaining First Place in the Second National Competition "Petrof-Symphony-Pearl River" for Young Performers. That same year he was invited to perform as a soloist with the National Youth Symphony, in Mexico City.  

In 2007 Mr. Dobrushkin moved to Houston, to pursue his Bachelor and Masters in Music performance at the University of Houston, under the guidance of Professor Vagram Saradjian. Vyacheslav Dobrushkin has been a member and principal cellist of Texas Medical Center Orchestra since 2011. Performing numerous concerts throughout the orchestra season, and he was featured as a soloist with the same orchestra in 2016. As well as winning First Place in the American Prize (2017) and Second Place “Ernst Bacon Award” of The American Prize (2018). In 2016 Mr. Dobrushkin was granted first place at the Moores School of Music Concerto Competition. For which he had an opportunity to perform as a soloist under the baton of David Curtis. In 2018, he was invited to perform and conduct master classes at “Encuentro Anual de Cuerdas” in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. 

 Mr. Dobrushkin participated in numerous distinguished festivals and master classes, among them: XXVII Chamber Music Festival in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico (2005). International Master Class at the Longy School of Music in Boston, USA (2006); Hot Springs Festival in Arkansas, USA (2011); Texas Music Festival in Houston, USA (2011,2013-2014); Semper Music Festival in Vols am Schlern, Italy (2016).



Stephen Chavez began musical studies at the age of 11 picking up both violin and cello. As cello would become his main instrument he quickly advanced and had the chance to perform at The Meyerson Symphony center in Dallas as a soloist. 

In High School Stephen attended camps at Baylor & Texas Tech, performed in both region and all state orchestra, and was awarded UIL’s Prestigious Outstanding rating for his solo performance. Stephen would eventually receive a scholarship to study with Vagram Saradjian at The University of Houston’s Moore’s School of music where he performed with the symphony orchestra, opera, & ballet. 

  Currently Stephen performs with The Texas Medical Center  Orchestra and The Houston Civic Symphony in Houston, TX.




Dr. Stephen T. Cook (Ed.D., M.A. TESOL, Dipl.-Mus.-Päd., LDT, CALT) is a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist and Certified Academic Language Therapist in private practice in the Houston area. He began teaching English in 2005 while earning his undergraduate and masters in cello performance/music education in Hamburg, Germany. Having dyslexia himself, his interest in helping others overcome their challenges in reading led him to complete a second masters and doctorate in applied linguistics. He has taught at the Christian-Albrecht University of Kiel, Germany, University of Houston-Downtown, Houston ISD, and Neuhaus Education Center. Cook is also a member of the Texas Medical Center Orchestra and enjoys incorporating music into his multisensory approach to teaching students with dyslexia. 



An avid educator Adrian Ponce has taught both privately and in public schools. He has participated as a Solo and Ensemble judge for several school districts in the Rio Grande Valley. During his time in the Houston metro area Adrian has taught with the Houston Youth Symphony’s “El Sistema” based Coda program, Clearlake ISD, Humble ISD, Katy ISD, HISD, Collegia, and developed the Zinn Education program as part of TMCO’s education initiatives. Mr. Ponce’s students often win auditions for all-region, all-state, Houston Youth Symphony, American Festival for the Arts, and the National Youth Orchestra. 

Mr. Ponce has had an extensive and multifaceted performance career. As an orchestral player Adrian has played with several orchestras in the Rio Grande Valley (Valley Symphony Orchestra, Kingsville Symphony), Northern Mexico and in the Houston Metro area including acting principal of the Brazosport Symphony Orchestra, Galveston Symphony Orchestra, Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra and Clearlake Symphony. During the 2015-2016 season Mr. Adrian toured with the UTRGV School of Music Choir as cello soloist and was a guest with several choirs across South Texas. He is a member of Camarata Cellista, several chamber groups, and often performs in jazz ensembles. Adrian has performed twice at the Kingsville Jazz Festival - once on bass guitar and also on piano. As a guitarist he has played in several bands and actively performs in theaters and other engagements throughout the Houston community. Aside from live performances, Adrian often works behind the scenes in producing music of all genres for commercials.

As an administrator Adrian has worked as a librarian, stage manager, orchestra manager, and personnel manager for various organizations. His most recent administrative endeavors have been as the Orchestra Manager of the Texas Medical Center Orchestra, the Galveston Symphony Orchestra, and Director of the Piney Woods Summer Chamber Series.
